In his recent posting on the history of the SE-5a replicas in New Zealand, Sir Minty said of ZK-SET "It was then sold to Gerald Rhodes of Christchurch 0n 3/5/93. Its registration was revoked on 19/5/98 and it is now at the Wanaka Transport and Toy Museum. Does anyone have a photo of it at the museum?"

Well, here it is, at Wanaka 7Sep2010.



As you can see, the museum is a crowded place with no real order to the exhibits even though a large new shed (hangar?) has recently been erected.

Other aircraft of interest jostling for space are the Auster J-1 Autocrat ZK-BJL ex-G-AJEC which has been in the collection since the mid-1990s



The Lockheed 18-56 Lodestar ex 42-55951 N17615 and XA-SAX. There was some talk of this becoming ZK-XUS, but that did not proceed.



Two Victa Airtourers are in the collection. ZK-CLF is ex Wellington AC and is warmly housed inside



While sister ZK-COW which started life with the Waikato AC sits outside in the weather.



Oldest aircraft in the collection is the Mignet HM.14 Flying Flea ZM-AAC. Built by Notman & Whitaker at Oamaru it came with a Scott Flying Squirrel engine. First flown at Alma airfield, Oamaru, 15May36 to 1000ft by David Whitaker. Carried out several flights over about eight months.



Hidden away on a top shelf is the TEAM 103R Max 103UL ZK-JDW which was built by pupils at the Rangi Ruru Girls School, Christchurch 1996-1997



Other aircraft scattered about the site are An-2 LY-AKH, DH104 Dove ZK-RNG, Percival Prentice ZK-DJC, GAF Canberra A84-207 and the MiG-21MF 5141.

Lots of other aviation memorabilia, models, etc.
